Train Excursion Lead
Full-time, Permanent
Job Overview:
As the Train Excursion Lead you will be contact point for all team members. You will act proactively to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration. You will manage the operations of the Train on a day-to-day basis within the policies and guidelines of Aspen Crossing Ltd. You must also be able to ensure customer satisfaction, team member engagement/retention and cost controls.

The Train Excursion Lead will report to General manager or designate
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in interviewing, selecting, training, supervising, disciplining and supporting staff.
- Order supplies, liquor and manage inventories.
- Ensure weekly replenishment of all necessary supplies on the train.
- Communicate with the Food and Beverage department regarding meals served on the excursions as well as inform them of numbers for each train
- Ensure staff is following all regulations. (AGLC, Alberta transportation, etc.)
- Responsible for all aspects of the candy caboose staff, stocked and maintained appropriately.
- Create employee schedule based on expected guest numbers.
- Establish duties schedule and ensure that it is done within the deadlines.
- Ensuring that checklists, opening and closing functions are being completed each shift.
- Communicate effectively to provide clear direction to the staff.
- Observe performance and encourage improvement where necessary.
- Organize and conduct pre-shift meetings communicating pertinent information to the staff such as guest counts or any changes.
- Maintain cleanliness of the train daily.
- Maintain rapport with all department leads and attend relevant meetings
- Leading train excursions to ensure that all Aspen Crossing standards and steps of service are met through all guests’ interactions (clean, safe, and presentable always).
- Communicate with guests and employees using a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to understand requests and provide accurate information.
- Interact positively with guests promoting Aspen Crossing facilities and services.
- Engage with customers in a friendly manner.
- Do announcement for our guests (safety and rules).
- Move throughout the train cars to visually monitor and take action to ensure service
standards are met. Give guidance toward improvement and make necessary adjustments for consistency.
- Solicit feedback from guests concerning the service, food and beverage.
- Take food and drink orders from customers accurately and with a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions.
- Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
- Collect payments from tables.
- Utilize POS to accurately charge guests.
- Ensure that all cash handling procedures are met, balance and reconcile cash out sheets at the end of every shift.
- Work with accounting and the management team for budgets for the train excursions
- Assist with the Marketing team to ensure that all promotions or menu updates are done in timely matter and the staff is inform.
- Collect payments from tables.
- Plan and set up public and private train excursions for Aspen Crossing.
- Actively promote Aspen Crossing and solicit for additional events: family gatherings, weddings, reunions, retreats, business meetings/functions and private excursion i.e.: Christmas parties, etc.
- Ensure maintenance of equipment by filling work order for repairs and training staff on proper use.
- Utilize software programs such as Word, Excel. Checkfront and produce reports to verify budgets are being met monthly, quarterly and yearly.
- Export report from Checkfront and ensure that any note to the customer’s reservation has been taken care of (allergies or any other request) and do a guests seating plan.
- Hire Entertainment Acts(Band, Magician, Actors)for all events. Hire appropriate entertainment acts for Train excursions, making sure age-appropriate acts are hired to keep guests entertained and ensure a positive experience.
